Master the Mind, Master the Game. Mental Golf Mastery uses a feeling of relaxed concentration, with the body relaxed and the mind focused. Without realizing, we all experience forms of this state of mind every day. For example, have you ever driven home, without thinking of how you got there? Some people refer to this as “highway trance.” Have you ever read a book, or watched a movie with your attention so focused on the story, that you are oblivious to your surroundings? “The Zone” happens when your performance is directed by the subconscious mind. When you play “in the zone”, you experience a more fluid, effortless swing.

The average person uses about 12% of their brain power. This is referred to as the CONSCIOUS MIND. It is part of the brain that decides on a dinner date, to watch T.V., go to a movie, or to hit a few balls at the range. It is the critical, analytical part of the brain.

The SUBCONSCIOUS MIND is part of the brain that controls physical movement like breathing, your heartbeat, and yes, the golf swing. Sometimes you have to get out of the way of conscious thought and direct control to the subconscious. Learning how the subconscious mind works, we can access and utilize the remaining 88% of our brain power. Bypassing the analytical conscious mind allows positive suggestions to reprogram the mind. With suggestions, we program new ideas to increase focus, confidence, positive self-talk, and greatly enhanced superior performance. The subconscious mind takes over and allows you to execute your swing with complete confidence.

Your subconscious mind communicates with your brain through the senses, and imagery. It doesn’t reason, the mind responds to programming you give it. For example: When you are concerned about a hazard on the golf course, it receives a picture of the hazard and automatically guides the ball there. Focusing only on where you want the ball to go, the ball then following the path, ending up at the target you have visualized.

To play excellent golf, you have to “turn off” the conscious mind, and let the subconscious mind swing the club. Your swing is already “wired” into your subconscious mind. When you are tense on the golf course, you are using mainly the conscious mind, trying to control the swing. When you relax, and clear your mind of distracting thoughts, you let the subconscious mind swing your club, and your score improves greatly.

Controlling your mind is the key to great golf. Your thoughts of winning are important, but only BEFORE the competition. Once in a game, the only focus should be on one shot at a time. Thoughts of winning, or obsessing on the last shot, the next shot, or how others are playing, take the focus off your game. You need to be totally focused on the process of the swing itself, and not the outcome of the swing. When you enter this state of consciousness, time seems to disappear. Usual distractions vanish and you feel in a flow or “the zone”. Your game becomes effortless. My recordings will teach you how to train your mind to enter this state of consciousness quickly and easily, to play your BEST game of golf, repeatedly.
